Author: Kat

Here is a new article series I will be working on. Along with when Tokyo Ghoul starts back called Spoiler Alert! Creative, I know. You will notice that I will mostly do these titles in Spoiler Alert! because they are what I read weekly, I may even start doing Attack on Titan if I feel up to it.

Note: If you’d like to catch up with these manga, you can find them simulpub on crunchyroll.com and you can buy the volumes at kodanshacomics.com

Because I like to save the best for last, and not that I think this is the worst title, it’s just the newest I have started Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches! By: Miki Yoshikawa

Previously on Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches: Yamada is a tough boy whom everyone fears. Seven is the magic number in this manga, and there are seven witches in a group everywhere! Yamada has the power to copy a witch’s power by making contact through a kiss. Even though he may not like it, where we are, the seven witches are all male and he has to kiss each one to find out what their power is! Join me in this article to find out the crazy things Yamada will have to go through so far to find all seven of the male witches, their powers and get his memories back.

Chapter 195: My chest sorta aches…

Tamaki tells Yamada that a new witch has been found. Yamada asks what the witch’s power was only to have Tamaki reply that he didn’t know and that was why he called in Yamada. Tamaki tells Yamada that the girl in charge of finding out the power gave up and that girl is Odagiri. Having had her memories erased due to the 7th witch’s power which Yamada possessed for a short time it seems Tamaki has given Odagiri a story filled with holes. She informs Yamada that whenever she sees him her chest sorta aches, having Yamada flash back to the time Odagiri confessed her feelings for him. It is revealed by Odagiri that Tamaki told her that Yamada liked her.   yamada_bw

Poor dear doesn’t know that she’s in love with a taken boy. The drama. The tragedy. The she had a chance with Ushio. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Odagiri and Yamada go to class 3-H to meet the witch Alex Spencer, a foreign exchange student from the states.It is shown that Odagiri is very friendly to the foreign exchange student and seems to be the only one who talks with him. His classmates used to surround him  a lot because he was a foreigner but him having a hard time communicating pushed them away. Alex can speak Japanese but still has a hard time communicating with others. Odagiri tells Alex that he is a loner, and calls over Yamada telling Alex that he too is a loner and they should get along. In response Alex says “Friends Forever” having jumped far from get along.

Yamada, being him, tries to quickly find out the power and uses the knowledge that “Foreigners kiss as greetings” to steal a kiss from Alex and find out what the witch power is, only to have it not work.

Yamada that’s not how you get someone to kiss you ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

When Yamada decides to give up and tells Odagiri to also, since she is already so busy and seems to not want to deal with it. She shows that she is really concerned for Alex and doesn’t want him to be alone and not have any friends.

Next scene we see Yamada and Alex outside talking. Yamada tells Alex that if there’s anything on his mind he can talk to Yamada about it. Alex thinks for a moment and tells him that he has no problems, to which Yamada responds that he has to have a problem. [Witch powers are born from an upset student attending the school making some kind of wish that resembles their power]. Odagiri is hiding behind a tree watching their conversation and overhears Alex ask Yamada what’s going on between him and Odagiri.

Odagiri blushes confused and probably thinking that Yamada will say that he once had a thing for her. Then next chapter he’ll probably say nothing, and that they’re just friends. He has a girlfriend, Odagiri gets her heart torn to pieces again, confusion. I’m not sure, just guesses. I’ll definitely be surprised if Yamada acts like what Tamaki told her was true.

Next up: The Seven Deadly Sins! Also known as Nanatsu no Taizai, By: Nakaba Suzuki

Previously on The Seven Deadly Sins: Diane, Ban, Meliodas, Elizabeth and the rest of the gang regroup inside of the deadly maze to find the members of the Ten Commandments and make it to the center. Ban finds Elaine, King and Jericho together but is put off by a strange feeling, Diane is reunited with Matrona, more friends reunited together. The power everyone (but Jericho) feels is the power of two members of the Ten Commandments. The two commandments are known as Drole and The First Fairy King Gloxinia. Gloxinia kills all of the participants who are still roaming around the maze, believing that the ones in the center are enough to start the “Game”. Gowther and Escanor arrive at the scene late, and Gloxinia stabs Escanor through the chest and then revives him before he dies to show the power she will grant to those who win. Drole divides everyone into teams of two and we get a cliff hanger with Elizabeth and Elaine teamed together.

Chapter 163: The Princess and The Saint

Elaine and Elizabeth are paired against deadly assassins. Gloxinia explains that the way to win your battle is to either kill your opponents, render them unable to fight, or push them out of the ring. Elizabeth finds out that she is partnered with Elaine, probably wondering how she’s alive. When the assassins start the attack, targeting Elizabeth first Elaine blasts them away with her amazing fairy powers but still keeps them in the ring. More idle chit chat between the two ladies.

ಠ_ಠ This is a death match you are in right now, and highly trained assassins are trying to kill you both!

seven deadly sins_bwThe assassins throw smoke bombs, Elizabeth gets bitten by a poisonous snake in the shoulder, Elaine flips because Elizabeth got bit. Elaine is amazing and has the jump over everyone because she’s a fairy and she can fly so that’s what she did. Flew above the arena, used some more fairy powers, and almost killed the oldest assassin.

Elizabeth came back with the shoulder part of her outfit gone and no bite mark to be seen. Not only so but Elizabeth being the sweet, naive princess she is she heals the almost dead assassin with her amazing druid( I think that’s what it is) powers and heals him up. She does so because they are from a kingdom that was once very close to Liones, but because of two chief Holy Knights they messed up that peace to try and get that kingdom to subservient to them.

And, chapter end.

Hopefully the guy doesn’t get up and try to kill her again and just forfeits. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gloxinia kills anyone who lost and lived.

Now it is time for Fairy Tail! By: Hiro Mashima

Previously on Fairy Tail: Fairy Tail and the supporting guilds from the Grand Magic Games are still fighting to keep Magnolia safe against the Albareth Empire. Laxus was fighting Wall and was having a hard time keeping up due to the anti-magic particles he consumed during the Tartaros Arc. Not only that, but because Wall was a type of robotic life-form, lighting did not work against him. Wall also failed to realize that using lightning based attacks only enhanced Laxus’ power. Laxus used his brain like a smarty pants and created a jutsu-shiki or enchantment around Wall. Wall uses a particle canceler spell not only cancelling the jutsu-shiki but also the anti-magic particles that were giving him the advantage over Laxus. Laxus creates Red-black lightning to defeat Wall.

Chapter 474: In the Silence of Time

Natsu is resting in the infirmary and Lucy is sleeping at his bed-side. Happy thinks about the events that unfolded when they encountered Zeref. He told himself that he’d find a way to save Natsu and defeat Zeref.fairy tail_bw

Warren tells the others inside of the guild that two of the Spriggan Twelve have been defeated meaning that there are only eight left causing the guild members inside to cheer. Until Makarov destroys all that telling them that there are still ways for them to be defeated, and he asks Mavis what she thinks they should do. She tells him that she needs some time to think, wondering what can they do to defeat Zeref.

In Southern Fiore, Gray, Lyon, and Juvia are fighting troops from the Albareth Empire. Juvia is almost attacked from above until someone’s magic stops the threat. They look behind and see Meredy from Crime Sorciere telling them that Crime Sorciere is joining the battle. In the background Lyon thinks Meredy is cute.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Mashima has granted my wish. Lyredy is no longer just a crack ship. It has been noticed.

Erza and Kagura are making their way to the harbor when two members of the Four Heraldy Knights of the Neinhart Division step in the way. Kagura and Erza quickly get them out of the way. From above two more of the Four Heraldy Knights tries to attack until Erza’s husband Jellal comes in at the right time and saves them. Erza tells Jellal to hide his face to which he replies that he is through running and he is there to take down Zeref. Kagura is staring at Jellal, obviously not having gotten over the misunderstanding of “Jellal killed my brother”.

Smh, Kagura.

Wherever Dimaria is, Wendy, Carla, and Chelia are fighting her there with her troops in the background. Dimaria freezes time and thinks of a way to mess with the girls, wondering if she should rip up Wendy’s clothes, killing them all would be too easy, but then decides to kill Wendy to confuse the other two girls and because Wendy kicked her in the face. As she swings her sword closer to Wendy’s neck, Wendy jumps in the air in time signaling Chelia to which they do a team sky arrow attack. Wendy explains to Chelia that she heard a voice, and Chelia agrees. A woman in the background talks about how they are in the time between times, shocking Carla. The woman is in fact Ultear. Young Ultear that we’ve always known.

Another wish has been granted. Ultear has returned to her natural age once more!

Overall I liked all of the chapters! Elizabeth and Elaine showing their stuff, Yamada finding another witch, and Ultear coming back not to mention some Lyredy too ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

Thanks for reading this Spoiler Alert article, and I hope you all will join me next time!

Tokyo Ghoul Book 1 – Chapter 9: Hatch is the last chapter of the first volume of the series.

Chapter 9: Hatched starts with Touka calling Yomo and telling him that she will be late. Then we transition to Kaneki kicking Nishiki’s butt.

Good ol’ Kaneki.

Turning the tide.

Kaneki swiftly stabs Nishiki in the stomach, leading Nishiki to freak out telling Kaneki that he’s about to die. Nishiki realizes that Kaneki’s Kagune looks like Rize’s but brushes it off. Then Kaneki hits Nishiki away, leaving Nishiki bleeding out with a giant hole in his stomach.

Kaneki looks towards Hide, with thoughts swarming through his mind. Telling him how delicious Hide looks, and he smells a sweet aroma. He imagines Hide on a plate while Kaneki himself is holding a fork and knife in his hands. Telling himself that he can’t let good food go to waste, he walks towards Hide.

Hide Dinner

Just in time, Touka steps in the way, telling Kaneki that for a half-ghoul he’s becoming more and more like the rest. She asks him if the pain of not eating for so long hurts so much it makes him want to die. Asking Kaneki that even though he’ll end up eating his friend to be rid of the pain, it doesn’t matter, but when he realizes that he’ll be alone it’s what she calls a ghoul’s hunger and that it’s their fate. But because she is tired of that said fate, she decides to help him.

Kaneki then wakes up inside of Anteiku

Boo, no fight scene.

Looking out the window, he sees his reflection. In that reflection he sees something on his teeth. The owner, Mr. Yoshimura comes inside and tells Kaneki where he is and that Touka brought him there. Kaneki panicks and asks what hapened to Hide, to which Yoshimura takes him to the room. Inside, Hide is sleeping, and Kaneki begins to walk but suddenly stops. He touches his mouth, explaining to Yoshimura that he was so hungry he almost killed Hide, the hunger was completely gone and that the blood in his mouth he knew was not his own.

He then asks Yoshimura what happened while he was asleep, and he receives the reply that there is only one way for a ghoul’s hunger to be satisfied. Yoshimura then tells Kaneki that he would have eaten his friend otherwise, and he should accept what he is.

Kaneki tells Yoshimura that he cannot be around Hide anymore, and he can’t be in the ghoul world; that he’s neither ghoul nor human, and that he has no place to go and he’s all alone. Yoshimura explains to Kaneki that it wasn’t true, and because he was both a ghoul and a human at the same time, he had a place in both worlds.

Yoshimura tells Kaneki to stay at Anteiku, where they will teach him how to survive as a ghoul, and he would like a human to learn more about ghouls to see for himself if they were really the ravenous beasts they are portrayed as to humans.

It seems Kaneki put up quite a fight against Touka.

Screenshot_2016-02-13-22-17-48-1
Touka, all bandaged up ;-;

Yoshimura tells Kaneki that they’ll start off with teaching him how to brew a proper cup of coffee. Kaneki tells Yoshimura that he never had a job before, and in the background Hide is not actually asleep.

This was fun. This is the last chapter of the first book, and I shall be taking a break before I write about the second one. Look for it in about 3-4 weeks. Thanks for following this crazy article, link, thingie…. and I hope you’ll join me when I post my feelings towards the Fairy Tail chapters that will be released every week. I will write about them every Wednesday, so if you’re a Fairy Tail fan, join me there for more of my quirky(?), weirdness about how much Hiro Mashima likes to throw my feelings all around.

Thanks for reading my reaction(?)(summary???) for Chapter 9: Hatched of the first volume of Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo Ghoul Book 1 – Chapter 8

Continuing from Chapter 7, Chapter 8: Kagune starts with Nishiki asking Kaneki how he had planned on eating Hide. To which Kaneki replies that he wasn’t and he never thought of Hide as food and told Nishiki to take his foot off Hide.

Seriously, Nishiki plz. Take your foot off ;-; You’re hurting him, you jerk ;^;

Pressing his foot harder onto Hide’s face, he asks Kaneki “What foot?” Making Kaneki jump towards him in anger trying to hit Nishiki with his satchel. In counter Nishiki kicked him into a wall, telling Kaneki that he has the same amount of strength as Touka and Yomo.

Kaneki thinks about the pain in his stomach from when Nishiki stabbed him as Nishiki explains that humans are only meant to be food for ghouls, and asks Kaneki why he plays with his food.

Kaneki tells Nishiki that he isn’t playing and Nishiki tells Kaneki that Hide was a risky choice. He explains that even though Hide seems dumb, he’s perceptive. Listing that Hide tried keeping Kaneki from going with Nishiki to get the disc, and Kaneki thinks about how Hide always noticed the slightest change.

Nishiki removes Kaneki’s eyepatch, telling him that if he couldn’t control his eyes he’d be caught soon. Then he grabs Kaneki by the face and threatens to kill Hide, activating Kaneki’s eyes. Kaneki thinks about how he was never athletic when he tried punching Nishiki, only getting kicked by Nishiki into steel beams getting hungry.

Nishiki tells Kaneki about how if he had used his Kagune he would have been able to finish Kaneki faster. Having out his Kagune he feels Hide tug on his sleeve. Nishiki asks if Hide had tugged at him unconsciously, or if he was pretending to be asleep. Then he hovers his foot over Hide telling him “I’ll thoroughly enjoy you in a bit.”

N KAgune
Nishiki’s Kagune

Kaneki has thoughts about his memories with Hide, when they first met and entering school together. Kaneki thinks to himself as he struggles to get up, “Maybe…Hide was trying to help me again. I don’t want Hide…to die. No…No… No! I won’t let that happen.”

The struggle is real am I right, Kaneki? [Cue the sound of angry fans with their weapons from chapter 1]

Yeah Kaneki, you go! D:<

Then Kaneki looks great with his one red eye and that’s the end of the chapter.

Tokyo Ghoul Book 1: Chapter 7 – Deception

Warning: (Haven’t done these in a while) This chapter will contain disgusting stuff. That’s it.  Not a lot of disgusting stuff, but it’s still there.

Chapter 7: Deception, starts off with Kaneki wondering why ghouls have to take away every place he belongs.

Nishki asks Hide if he came for some files and begins to look for them. Hide tells him that he was looking for the one with last year’s festival. When Nishki wasn’t able to find the video in his area he asks Hide and Kaneki to help him look for it.

Kaneki finds it off that Nishiki was acting normal but looks anyway. Nishiki realizes that it’s not in the room and remembers that he left it at home. He asks Hide to come with him to get it. Hide thinks for a bit and agrees telling Kaneki that he’s going and Kaneki has to walk home alone.

Not liking the idea of his best friend walking home alone with a ghoul Kaneki asks if he can go also. Nishiki agrees and Hide is left wondering why Kaneki decided to join them. Kaneki then asks if Hide and Nishiki were close. Hide replies that it wasn’t too long since they’d first met and Kaneki realizes that all the ghouls showing up around him had always been there and he just never noticed them.

As they walk, Nishiki asks if they want Taiyaki. Hide agrees and Kaneki accepts but doesn’t eat it. Nishiki gets one also and takes a bite and gulps it down. Leaving Kaneki wondering how he could do that. When Hide asks Kaneki if he was going to eat his Taiyaki, Kaneki tells him that he would eat it later.

Kaneki thinks about how Nishiki blends with society so well that no one would be able to tell he was a ghoul. Then he wonders if he could do the same thing.

Hide stops and realizes that they’ve been led to a dead end, leading to Nishiki kicking him in the stomach, into some supplies and knocking him out. Kaneki screams Hide’s name andNishiki grabs him by the throat and lifts him into the air.Screenshot_2016-01-15-19-46-20

Nishiki asks Kaneki if he was going to eat Hide, and tells him about how great it is betraying someone that trusts you and watching the look on their face before they’re eaten. Kaneki then tells Nishiki that he wouldn’t do that and he’s not like Nishiki.

Kaneki, there you go again provoking these ghouls. ;-;

Nishiki punches Kaneki in the stomach and tells him about how he hates when “little punks” talk back to him like he told Touka. As Kaneki lays on the ground in pain, Nishiki comments about how flimsy Kaneki is. Then he says that all the moving around and Taiyaki made him sick to his stomach. Wondering how humans could eat it and saying that it was like eating horse crap.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOA ಠ_ಠ ಠ_ಠ ಠ_ಠ ಠ_ಠ Hold it there, Nishiki. The way Kaneki described food was definitely weird, but horse crap is a whole new level. What is it, that you have been fed you poor, unfortunate ghoul man?

Nishiki then shoves his fingers down his throat forcing him to vomit, and decides to vomit on Hide.

NISHIKI, WHY?! HIDE DIDN’T DESERVE THIS ಠ_ಠ!!

Then he taunts Kaneki by saying “Sorry, Kaneki, I fouled up your food.”

Rude.

Welp, that’s the end.

Nishiki that’s disgusting what you did to Hide.

Good Luck, Kaneki.

Welcome to the sixth chapter of the first Tokyo Ghoul book, Homing, where we continue with Kaneki screaming at Touka that he wasn’t a monster like her.

~~~~~
Kaneki continues to scream about how he isn’t a monster and that he can’t eat human flesh. This makes Touka furious as she grabs onto his face and slams him to the ground. She asks him who he thinks he is, telling him that he may not be a ghoul but he also isn’t human either. She continues to tell him that there isn’t a place for someone who can’t decide between the two. As she beings to walk off she tells him that if he wants to be human so badly then he should try starving himself to his limit, but she warns him that a ghoul’s hunger can be a true hell.
Touka has no chill.
Kaneki sits in the alley thinking about what Touka said to him. He then wonders if he’ll have to live the rest of his life alone. Kaneki gets a text from Hide asking if Kaneki really didn’t need his notes because he was dying alone in Asian History. The text helps Kaneki realize that he does belong somewhere, and as long as he has that he’ll be alright.
Kaneki decides to go back to school. He wears an eye patch to keep his ghoul eye from showing if he were to get hungry. Across the way sitting at a table Hide sees Kaneki and runs to him asking him where he has been. Members of a committee that Hide is in tells him to get a DVD of the year before’s festival from Nishio. Hide takes Kaneki with him to see Nishio as Kaneki thinks about what would happen if Hide were to find out that Kaneki wasn’t human anymore and wonders if they’ll ever be able to walk together again.
Inside of a different building, barging into a room titled AO they find a girl freaking out covering up her chest, and running out of the door. Nishio tells Hide that he doesn’t like when people trespass on his territory, and Hide begins to apologize. Kaneki notices that it smells like Coffee, and when he looks at Nishio he realizes that it’s Nishiki the ghoul that Touka beat up.
Do you know what this means? Nishiki was in some kind of bedroom thing, with a girl… removing her clothes…
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Tokyo Ghoul - Nishiki and Kimi
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Whoa Nishiki
Freaking out about the revelation, Kaneki trips backwards confusing Hide. Nishiki asks Kaneki to not mess up his room, and asks Hide if Kaneki is a friend of his. Hide happily introduces Kaneki to Nishiki. Nishiki introduces himself as a Sophomore in the pharmaceutical department, Nishiki Nishio. And says “Nice to meet you. Kaneki.”
Welcome to Chapter 5: Feeding Ground. We left off with the man from the convenient store that Kaneki met was actually a ghoul.
The man figures out that the reason Kaneki was getting coffee was because he was a ghoul, and told Kaneki that having only one red eye was disgusting.
Rude.
He continues to talk about how Kaneki was trespassing in his feeding ground and told Kaneki he couldn’t stay. Kaneki tells the ghoul that he didn’t know the area belonged to anyone and they are interrupted by a voice on the rooftop.
Touka is sitting on the rooftop glaring down at Kaneki and the man quoting “Since when was this your feeding ground? It’s not yours. This is Rize’s turf. Nishiki.” She jumps down the roof to meet their level.
Tokyo Ghoul - Touka Appears
Touka Appears
The ghoul known as Nishiki informs Touka that he knew Rize was dead calling her a binge-eater. Nishiki yells about how the area was his feeding ground until Rize came and since she was dead it belonged to him once more. Touka protested that the area would be distributed to the weaker ghouls. And also made sure to add “And anyway, you lost this alley because you were weaker than Rize. You’ve only got yourself to blame. Dumbass!”
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Burn.
Tokyo Ghoul -Nishiki is Insulted
That burn was hotter than Nishiki’s mixtape! Am I right? No…? Okay, I’ll stop now.
Nishiki becomes angry and they have a good old fashioned ghoul brawl. The fight ends quick because Touka dealt serious injuries and Nishiki just couldn’t handle it.
Tokyo Ghoul - Touka Attacks Nishiki
Part 1 of Touka being great.
Tokyo Ghoul - Nishiki Gets Beat
Final part of Touka being great.
Because Touka is great.
Kaneki becomes confused, asking Touka what ghouls are. Pointing out that they eat humans, but also kill each other. Claiming that they have no morals, and no order. And he yells that his life sucks.
Touka notices that Kaneki hadn’t eaten the meat inside of the package given to him. She tells Kaneki that she’ll give him a hand as she walks over to the corpse left in the alley. Picking a lump of flesh off, she shoves it into Kaneki’s face and towards his mouth telling him to eat it. He does so and is pulled into this crazy form of shock looking like he had the best thing in the world.
Realizing that human flesh that was not his own entered his system through his mouth he decided to throw it back up.
Kaneki, please. Touka is watching. No matter how scary she may seem, I am sure she is disgusted.
Touka asks him why he won’t eat, and Kakeki tells her that eating the meat was wrong. That he tried so hard not to eat it, and asked her why she forced him too. He concludes with, “There’s no way I can do it. I… I’M A HUMAN BEING!! I’M NOT LIKE YOU MONSTERS!!”
WHOA.
KANEKI, MY FRIEND. That is not how you ask for help. Calling someone a monster is a big no-no after she was so kind as to um… not kill you like she could have a while ago.
Tokyo Ghoul - Touka is Insulted
Just look at her face. I think we know what to expect from her next chapter.
Well that happened.
I think we all know where this is heading though.
Kaneki calling Touka a monster. Touka… the same girl who sliced half of an old guy’s head clean off. Touka, the girl who was able to scare away Nishiki.
Good luck, Kaneki.
Welcome to Tokyo Ghoul’s chapter 4: Coffee! We left off with Kaneki holding the package, expected to eat what was contained inside.
The manager tells Kaneki to come back anytime he needed more of the packages. Kaneki could tell that inside the package was human flesh, as he thanked the manager. As Kaneki left, Touka took the opportunity to ask the manager why he helped Kaneki. The manager told Touka the story about the hospital accident on the news, and told her that Kaneki had Rize’s organs inside of him.
Kaneki sits at home, his stomach growling while looking at the package. His hunger begins to overcome him so he throws the package across the room. Feared of how he almost ate the contents in the package, he runs to his fridge and grabs condiments; spraying them in his mouth. Disgusting. Soy sauce, Ketchup; Disgusting. He picks up a jar of instant coffee, and shakes some into his mouth. Surprised that the substance wasn’t disgusting, he brewed himself a cup and nervously drank it. Excited that it tasted good, he tried the coffee beans, and noted that it tastes better brewed. Feeling optimistic, he grabs a slice of bread and shakes the coffee onto it and places it in his mouth. Kaneki spits it out, quoting “It tastes like solid barf!! Coffee can’t even makes the taste!”
(ಠ_ಠ) Kaneki, really? You know what Solid Barf tastes like?!
Kaneki is looking for coffee in a convenient store. Not sure of which coffee to buy, a man reaches for the coffee he was going after. He had orange hair and apologized, quoting “Blondy is the best instant coffee, isn’t it?” handing the container to Kaneki. Kaneki checks out with about six containers of coffee and begins to walk home.
Hoping that the coffee gets him through his hunger, he smells something. The scent reminds him of his mother’s cooking, and he is quick to find the source. Hoping that it’s a restaurant that serves exotic foods with meat that even he can eat, due to the distance he walked .
As he rounds the corner, he is excited to know that the source of the scent is there. Smiling he finds. . . A man biting a dead guys throat off. Confused, Kaneki sits there. Ghoul man. Dead body. Source of smell. Fear takes over his body as he screams and inwardly thinks “How could I have been enticed by the smell of a corpse?!
Kaneki finds the source
Ew.
The ghoul over the body tells Kaneki to go away, because he caught the man first and Kaneki was distracting him. As he tries to force Kaneki to leave more, a foot is placed on the back of his head. The orange haired man from the convenient store held the Ghoul’s arms behind his body, and put all his force into the foot he had on his head, pushing it off quoting “Boom.”
Boom.
“Boom.” *Internal laughter*
The orange haired man asks the now dead corpse if the dead ghoul thought he could eat in his feeding ground. He looks over to Kaneki and notices that he was the boy from the convenient store. He tells Kaneki that if he had realized he was a ghoul before, he wouldn’t have been so nice and if he were human, he would have eaten him. He smirks towards Kaneki, finishing his statement and revealing that he has ghoul eyes.
Nishiki Nishio revealed
The man from the store is actually a ghoul.
Oh Kaneki, poor, sweet, Kaneki. You just find ghouls left and right don’t you?
Welp, stay tuned for Chapter 5: Feeding Ground, next time!
Chapter 3: Worst
This chapter contains violence, and spoilers to the Tokyo Ghoul manga up to Chapter 3: Worst. Proceed with caution, because you have been warned.
Continuing where we left off, Touka and Kaneki are figuring out who will get the arm in Chapter 3: Worst
Kaneki is in fear, finding out that he is face to face with a ghoul who is now offering him an old guy’s arm. Touka comes closer to Kaneki continuing to ask him if he was going to eat, when she notices that only one of his eyes are red, then she begins to answer the real question as she recognizes Kaneki, “Why weren’t you eaten?”
Tokyo Ghoul_Derptastic Face
Derptastic face.
As she tries to piece together why Kaneki is still alive and why he has one ghoul eye after Rize tried to eat him, Kaneki makes a run for it with a derptastic face might I add. Once Kaneki finished his run from the female ghoul, he thinks about how he couldn’t believe that another ghoul was right under his nose, while also thinking about the old pervert’s arm and drooling.
The scene transitions to Hide trying to call Kaneki, and is sent to voicemail. Hide talks about he could bring his school notes to Kaneki if he needed them, and that his favorite author’s book signing was on that day. Kaneki makes his way to the book signing, but is too late so he decides to go home. As he walks home, he notices a little girl, and then a woman, a man, a girl, a young man, etc. And all his mind can think of while noticing the humans is meat.
Kaneki runs to the bathroom to calm himself, upset to see that his left eye had turned red once again. He questions why it was him who had to suffer such a fate and punched a mirror cutting himself and the cut quickly healed.
Kaneki thinks about how in Egg of the Black Goat it’s about the Black Goat’s son, and that is why it is called “Egg” of the Black Goat. Which makes Kaneki wonder if he is now the Egg of a ghoul. He mumbles to himself about if he didn’t have ghoul organs, he wouldn’t be suffering. Kaneki calls Hide to bring the notes to his house, and grabs a knife from the kitchen. He plans to stab himself to damage his kidney’s hoping that the hospital will provide him knew ones if he’s lucky. He called Hide in case he wouldn’t be able to call the Hospital himself.
He takes the knife and thrusts it into his torso, where the knife bends and the wound quickly heals. Kaneki sits and cries because he’s starving, and he knows there’s only one way to satisfy his hunger and if he did that he wouldn’t consider himself as a person anymore.
Kaneki goes to Anteiku to beg for Touka’s help, telling her that his life had been nothing but horrible since his body changed. She declines and asks him that if his life was horrible ever since his body changed, did that mean her life was horrible since the moment she was born. She told him he could die for all she cared.
Tokyo Ghoul_Angry Touka
The manager comes outside and tells Kaneki to enter. Touka protests, and the manager reminds her that the policy of Anteiku is that ghouls help each other. The mangaer and Touka take Kaneki to a lower level under the cafe into a vault like room, where Kaneki is given a package that he is supposed to eat to satisfy his hunger.
Welcome to Tokyo Ghoul Book 1 – Chapter 2. This WILL contain spoilers for chapter 2 of the Tokyo Ghoul manga. So, you have been warned. If you continue to read beyond this point even though I’ve already stated that this article contains spoilers, then don’t blame me.
This chapter also contains gory content and violence, such as explanations and pictures. If you can’t handle those types of things but want to continue reading, be my guest.
To all my people who had torches and pitchforks for chapter 1, you might want to bring them back out. enjoy this chapter.
Now, we continue with our dear friend Kaneki, in chapter 2: Oddity
The chapter begins with Kaneki speaking of how when he was younger he read a book about a man who turned into a giant insect, and he had wondered what it would feel like to be a giant insect. There is a flashback to when Rize was about to eat him, and then she was crushed by the beams and the text of people finding their body.
The chapter cover is of Kaneki sitting on a chair that’s standing on a pile of opened books all over. That takes skills to just sit on a chair on a pile of books. SKILLZ
Continuing, the story progresses to Kaneki watching TV as Dr.Kano is being interviewed by many reporters, asking if Rize was really dead, or if she could have been saved, or did he receive her permission or permission from her family to transplant her organs. Kano responds that she was pronounced dead on arrival, and that he took it upon himself to save the life that was in front of him.
Kaneki walks through the hospital, thinking about how as the time goes by that night seems unreal, but the scar he had reminded him that it did happen. Kaneki chats with Dr.Kano as Kano speaks of Kaneki being able to go back to attend school soon and also brings up the topic that the nurses have informed Kano that Kaneki does not seem to like the food. Kaneki hastily replies that “It’s good”.
Transition to Kaneki sitting with a plate of fish and rice and some good looking food, he picks a piece off the meat and puts it in his mouth. His eyes widen as he thinks “It tastes so fishy..” Joke wise, or as in actual fish taste Kaneki? ;D Kaneki stops eating and the nurse beside him asks if he’s finished. She remarks that if he doesn’t eat he won’t get better, and Kaneki begins that it tastes..
She cuts him off by taking a bite of his food. She says that it tastes normal and he gives her a scary look. She tells him that he shouldn’t be picky with his food and she leaves. He thinks about how it wasn’t just the fish but the miso soup tasted like machine oil, the texture of the tofu was like a glob of lard, and the rice felt like he was kneading glue in his mouth, and overall everything tastes awful. You could have gone with just awful, Kaneki.
(ಠ_ಠ) Kaneki, what have you been eating to know what those things taste like?
As he reads in his bed he thinks about how he had barely eaten anything, but he was surprisingly not hungry. “Maybe I’m turning into an insect too.” He stated, as he trembled reading his book trying to laugh it off. That’s not something to laugh about Kaneki. After he’s discharged from the hospital, he thinks about how during the weeks he was hospitalized he got by on only water, and his appetite kept shrinking. He then gets a text from Hide who would like to celebrate his discharge by going to their favorite restaurant, Big Girl. Kaneki gets excited because he and Hide love their hamburger steaks. I never thought a black and white drawing of meat could look so delicious.
When they arrive at Big Girl, there are four waitresses, and you can only see the name-tag of one, Ohashi. Ohashi is their server and after Hide places their orders she goes to get their food. Hide talks about how Dr.Kano is being crowded by the press and Kaneki explains that it was because he didn’t get Rize’s permission or her family’s to perform the organ transplant. Hide continues that she didn’t have any family and she died instantly. Kaneki is surprised and thinks about how he hadn’t told anybody Rize was a ghoul because no one would believe him.
As Ohashi comes back with their food, Hide starts to talk about a student in their department named Nishitani. Kaneki is barely listening and looks at Ohashi walking with their food, as she continues walking Kaneki stares at her thighs and starts to drool.
(ಠ_ಠ) Kaneki, quit being weird.
Once their food is placed, Kaneki stares at his hamburger steak strangely. When he takes a bite, he’s surprised and asks Hide if the meat is cooked properly. Hide tells him that it’s done perfect and if his doesn’t taste cooked right he could cook it more on the hot rock. Kaneki does so and thinks about how he always loved the hamburger steaks from Big Girl’s because they were juicy and full of flavor. He places the piece of meat in his mouth and inwardly exclaims that it’s like licking a pig’s guts, and if that wasn’t enough he threw up on the table too.
Tokyo Ghoul_Pig guts
The vomiting.
(ಠ_ಠ) Kaneki, that is disgusting.
As he sits outside he wonders what’s going on. As he’s thinking a little girl drops her ball and he gives it back to her. As she thanks him, the wind blows and wafts a scent in his direction which causes him to gulp down hard.
Once Kaneki is home, he lay in his bed with the TV broadcasting a discussion with a ghoul researcher by the name of Hisashi Ogura. Ogura explains that ghouls have no need to eat a large amount of food in a short period of time. One dead body would keep them okay for about a month or two. The many people dying were being eaten for pleasure.
*cough Rize cough*
Tokyo Ghoul_ogura
Dr. Hisashi Ogura – He may be important in the future.
Dr.Ogura continues that the ghoul was probably hiding from the investigators and they usually disguise themselves as humans and live disguised as humans which makes them very difficult to find. Continuing his explanation, ghouls cannot gain any nourishment from anything but humans and it’s believed to be from a unique enzyme they possess. And to add, their tongues work differently and human food tastes disgusting to ghouls.
Ogura quotes, “Vegetables taste grassy, fish tastes fishy, and meat tastes gamy.” Kaneki uses a shocked expression as Ogura continues “They may eat it in front of us but they’ll be hit with a strong sense of nausea afterwards” More fear is shown in Kaneki’s eyes, as he wonders if receiving a ghoul’s organs some how changed his body.
Kaneki tried going to sleep, but was awaken by his stomach; he was hungry. As he goes through his refrigerator he qoutes, “In one of Kafka’s most famous stories, a young man turns into a giant insect.  ‘The young man who became an insect saw his taste in food change.  He could no longer eat fresh foods. He began preferring things like rotten cheese.’ If my taste in food changed . . . what’s the ‘cheese’ for me?” He questions as he takes a bite of a sandwich, and quickly throws it back up.
Tokyo Ghoul_kaneki floor
Don’t cry over spilled milk, Kaneki. Don’t cry. Hue hue.
Food is scattered all over the kitchen, as he lay on the floor, with the rest of his food only bitten once in, depression. Kaneki has decided to roam outside wearing a jacket with the hood up; his stomach still growling. He stumbles upon a pervy old man harassing Touka Kirishima from Anteiku. Kaneki begins to look at her thighs and hips and wonders if they are “Filled with innards”
(ಠ_ಠ) Kaneki, seriously. Stop. Being. Weird.
The perverted old guy notices Kaneki and asks him what he’s looking at, and grabs him. Kaneki yells at him to not touch him as he sweats, revealing only his left eye looking like a ghoul’s eye. The old guy is afraid, wondering why Kaneki’s eye is different. Kaneki is confused and has no idea what he’s talking about.
The perverted man calls Kaneki a freak and then . . .
BOOM!
Tokyo Ghoul_slice
That’s one pervy old man out of the story.
The top half of his head has been cut off. And the one who cut it off was none other than Touka Kirishima, to which now we can see that her revealed left eye is a ghoul eye like Kaneki’s.
That moment when you realize the sweet girl you saw in the beginning can do things like that.
Touka sighs because she killed the man and she wasn’t hungry. So she decides to take an arm quoting “Even though old guy meat tastes nasty.” As she rips the arm off, Kaneki begins to drool as he figures out Touka is also a ghoul. She notices him drooling, and offers him the arm.
Tokyo Ghoul_hungry
I love how she just offers it all causally.
Well then. . . that happened.
So I was probably being a jerk over sensitive topics. #Sorrynotsorry Bring out the hurt if you were upset about it. But I’ll continue anyway because I can. ;D
Please do not spoil anything, this is only chapter 2 of the first manga volume. It would be incredibly rude to spoil further chapters when others have read this article to see my reaction to chapter 2.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for Chapter 3: Worst.
WARNING: These will be really long, because I will have a reaction for each chapter. Each Chapter. And it will contain Gory scenes, and Violence. Each chapter will be posted in separate articles.
Tokyo Ghoul 1_inside coverSo, I have started reading the Tokyo Ghoul manga about a few weeks ago, and this will be a little reaction sort of pointing out the differences seen in the manga and anime. If you haven’t taken the hint, I’ll throw it at your face  This reaction will contain spoilers from both the anime and manga. Mostly the manga. So if you don’t like spoilers, don’t read this. If you’ve read up to a certain chapter, read up to that certain chapter. Or read it, it’s your choice, but . . .
You have been warned!!!
Before you grab your torches and pitchforks shouting about how the manga is the best, I will tell you now. I know. But I still think it would be fun to touch up on a couple things the anime missed, just to see how close they really are. So put down those torches and pitchforks and any other harmful objects  Let’s get started.
Kaneki_IDTokyo Ghoul Book 1’s cover features Ken Kaneki and contains nine chapters, with the first page colored, featuring Ken Kaneki, Touka Kirishima, Renji Yomo, Yoshimura, and Hinami Fueguchi. The second page contains info of Ken Kaneki such as birth-date, blood type, age, zodiac, school, size, and likes. Tokyo Ghoul was created by Sui Ishida.
Chapter 1: Tragedy
The first page of the actual story already starts off with why the manga has it’s title, Ghouls. Just from seeing the title of the chapter, and having already seen the anime, I know what to expect. *(Ugly sobbing in the background)*
The story continues inside of the lovely little coffee shop, Anteiku, where Kaneki and his best friend Hideyoshi (Hide) Nagachika are ordering as they hear the news about ghouls. Kaneki wonders what they look like, and how spooky it is that the creatures who eat humans to survive live among him, like everyday humans.
Here is your warning, if the chapter title was not enough. If it starts out nice and goofy with a title like that, then prepare to have your heart stomped on. A few hundred times, give or take a few more.
Touka
Touka Kirishima (Look at her sweet innocent face~)
Anywho, we progress inside of Anteiku where Hide wants to call out Kaneki, trying to figure out who his special lady friend is that he usually meets inside Anteiku. While trying to point the girl out, he points at one of the waitresses, Touka Kirishima, where he scares her by asking the strangest question, along the lines of “Do you have a boyfriend?” *CoughHidePleaseCough* Kaneki tries to calm down his friend, fearing that they’d be banned for being obnoxious, for the coffee shop was the only connection he had to his lady friend.
Rize
Kaneki’s Lady friend
Mid-sentence the girl walks right in and takes a seat. Hide tells Kaneki to give up, because the girl is out of his league, and takes off. Kaneki notices that the girl is reading a book written by an author he admires, Sen Takatsuki, and the title of the book is Egg of the Black Goat. Egg of the Black Goat is about a woman who his a serial killer called “Black Goat” and her son. Her son is disgusted by his mother’s sickness, but has to acknowledge the same cruel impulses inside him. Wow. Okay then. This was not in the anime. The description of the story I mean.
The girl bumps into Kaneki, who was literally reading Egg of the Black Goat also. Small talk happens, and they decided to go out to eat “To talk about their favorite books” on a later date. Kaneki learns that the girl’s name is Rize Kamishiro and he becomes excited for the outing the following day. The next day they talk about their favorite books and such, but Kaneki notices that Rize rarely ate any of her food claiming she was on a diet and she excuses herself to the bathroom as he wonders why such a thin female is on a diet. She took like literally a bite out of her sandwich. A nibble. c’mon Rize, you’re wasting a good sandwich smh.
After they’re get together Kaneki began to walk in the same direction as Rize’s home and they spoke about all the things they and had in common, Blood type, taste in books, age, etc. Kaneki thinks this is going great, as our lovely waitress Touka passes by. She stops midway and turns around, and her friend she was walking home with was wondering what the hold up was. Touka replied that it was nothing and they kept going. Kaneki was prepared to leave once they hit a fork in the road, but Rize was too scared of the ghouls around her street, as she trembles about how afraid she is to sleep at night *Zoom in on lips* Kaneki being the nice guy he is continues to walk her home as they walk down a dark spooky alley. So very romantic~
Suddenly, she stops. She flings herself on him, and Kaneki’s heart begins to race. She starts a conversation, talking about how she noticed the way he looked at her. *Louder heart beats* *Zoom in on lips*
Oh my gosh, is he gonna get a kiss? A Kiss? A
CHOMP!!
Crazy Rize
Rize Kamishiro revealing her Ghoul Side
Me: Wait, what?
Sui Ishida: Lol this chapter is called Tragedy.
In the middle of that chomp, she says she’s noticed him too. As her eyes don’t look the same. Kaneki is confused, because she bit him. Swallowing that chunk of meat she took off that poor boy’s arm she compliments that it’s delicious. Well you got that going for ya, Kaneki. He focuses on her eyes, Red iris’ and black sclera with red veins across the eye into the skin. As Kaneki had fallen back in fear, Rize stated that she had a scene in Egg of the Black Goat that she really enjoyed, it was when the Black Goat would rip out the guts of a man trying to run away, and no matter how many times she read that part, it got her excited every time.
Wow. Okay then.
If it wasn’t already obvious, Rize tells you, she is in fact a Ghoul.
Kaneki, you poor soul. Your first date with a girl ended up being with a ghoul. You poor thing.
Kaneki now makes a break for it, Good choice, Kaneki. Rize has four claws on her back that she uses to trip him. She tells him that she’ll rip out his insides gently.
Rize . . . Hasn’t anyone ever told you not to play with your food?
Kaneki is able to quickly get away once again by stabbing one of her claws with a mechanical pencil from his bag. As he runs he thinks about the series of events, Her meeting him, their first day, and figured out it was all calculated. As he runs to quickly escape into the street
BSH!! “Oh look, I’ve been impaled”Poor Kaneki
Rize has decided to impale him with one of the four claws. Ow. She then slaps him against a building, where he is about to pass out. As she walks closer to him, she asks if he’s dead. Continuing the conversation, she exclaims that she likes bodies like his. Not too much fat, not very muscular so he’s tender, and she wonders if he’ll taste better than the two she ate earlier that week. There is a zoom in on steel beams above the building Kaneki slammed into, showing that they were wobbling and then the rope around them snapped. As she got closer to Kaenki, the steel beams landed on top of her.
Look Out Rize
Best Rize Pose
hahaha rize
I laughed, hard.
Splurting out blood, she qoutes, “Why . . .  Me? . . .” *Cue eyes rolling into the back of her head*
Why you? Why you, Rize?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN, WHY YOU?! Girl, you know why you. People find Kaneki and Rize after hearing the Steel Beams fall, and call an ambulance to get them help. The next page starts dark, with Kaneki awaking slightly, only able to hear few sentences of the doctors working on him, “Abnormal . . . Injur . . .” and “He needs . . . Organ transp . . .”
The head doctor, Doctor Kano, decides to use Rize’s organ for the transplant because their blood type matches. They could not reach his or her family so Dr. Kano responded that he’d take full responsibility.
As Kaneki begins to awaken, he quotes “I’m not the main protagonist of a story or anything . . . I’m just a normal college student who likes to read . . . but . . . if I were to write a story with me as the main character . . . it would be . . . A Tragedy.
The doctors exclaim that the operation was a success and Kaneki opens his eyes, with his left eye looking like Rize’s eye when she revealed she was a ghoul.
poor por kaneki
WELL THEN.  I will forever understand why this chapter was called Tragedy. That being said, my heart did hurt a lot. If you enjoyed reading this, go ahead and leave a comment or so expressing your thoughts!
You are totally allowed to hurt me with torches and pitchforks and other harmful objects now, because I have realized I may have crossed the line in some places, or made jokes about things not everyone would like. But understand, this is my article. BRING ON THE HURTING
If you know of any spoilers, please keep them to yourself. I have only read up to book two, and spoilers after chapter one in this article will not be appreciated. For this article only covers for chapter one.
Please do not spoil for any of the other books either, that would be extremely rude. Especially since the United States has not finished translating all of the books, and not everyone would like to read online translations.
Thank you for understanding, and stay tuned for the article on Chapter 2: Oddity
